TikTok vs Instagram Reels, Which One Actually Works for Cyprus Businesses

This question comes up with almost every new client. Should we focus on TikTok, Instagram Reels, or both? The honest answer is that it depends on your audience, but we have made videos for enough different Cyprus businesses on both platforms to share what we have actually seen.

What worked well on TikTok

Andreas Aspros, an orthodontist offering Fast Braces, reached 568,500 organic views with a TikTok video. Illumidental, a dental clinic, got 19,000 views on their first ever TikTok post. Dr. George Astras, a medical oncology director, saw over 5,600 views on a test video posted to TikTok. All three of these are healthcare related businesses, and all three found a real audience on TikTok willing to watch and engage.

What worked well on Instagram Reels

Kykko Bowling used Instagram Reels to show real moments from the business and ended up fully booked. Farma Kouloumbri reached 883,000 organic views on Instagram with content showing real life on their farm. Both of these businesses have a strong visual, lifestyle feel to them, which tends to fit naturally with how people browse Instagram.

So which platform should you actually pick

Based on what we have seen, TikTok tends to work especially well for businesses that can answer questions directly, like healthcare, services, and anything where people are searching for real information. Instagram Reels tends to work well for businesses with a strong visual or lifestyle element, like food, farming, fitness, and hospitality. This is not a strict rule, but it is a pattern we have noticed across different clients.

You do not always have to choose just one

The good news is that a single video can often be posted to both platforms with small adjustments. Many of our clients post to both and simply pay attention to which platform their specific audience responds to more, rather than guessing in advance.

What actually matters more than the platform

In our experience, the platform matters less than most people think. What actually decides whether a video works is whether it feels real, answers a genuine question, or shows something people are curious about. A great video on the wrong platform will still usually outperform a weak video on the right one.
